Film Loading Simulator
Load film onto a reel inside a changing bag, step by step, in 3D.
Four simulations of the parts of the process that are hardest to learn from text: loading film in the dark, running a tank through the chemistry, focusing and exposing an enlarger, and placing tones on the zone scale.
Load film onto a reel inside a changing bag, step by step, in 3D.
Pour, agitate, drain and fix — with real chemistry colours and timings.
Focus, stop down, filter for contrast and expose — see the print appear.
Analyse a photograph, place it on eleven zones, and get a suggested EI.
The 3D Studio uses Three.js for rendering and GSAP for timing, both served as local static files — no CDN, no third-party requests, no tracking. Neither library is loaded on the home page or in the reference sections; they are imported on demand when you open one of these four pages.
Every tool detects WebGL and Canvas support. If either is unavailable, the tool falls back to a written procedure or a static illustration and the interactive controls continue to work where they can.
All idle animation — rotation, liquid flow, floating droplets — is disabled when your operating system reports a reduced-motion preference. The tools remain fully usable.
The home page 3D preview is replaced with a static illustration below 640 px, and the studio pages detect small screens and reduce render resolution rather than dropping frames.
The Zone System Visualizer reads a photograph you choose entirely in your browser's memory. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored, and the file disappears when you close the page.
